There are a lot of common misconceptions when it comes to what Life Coaching is and what it is not.  It’s important to clarify this before we go any further. 

What Exactly Does a Life Coach Do?

Are you continually finding yourself surrounded by the same negative people and circumstances?  Is it time to transform and upgrade your life?  The Law of Attraction suggests that your current reality is merely a product of the thoughts that you are thinking.  So naturally, it makes sense that changing your thoughts is the first step towards living the life you dream of.  It sounds easy, right?  As if!  Many of our thoughts have been hard-wired into our subconscious for years, which can make them extremely tricky to change!  Because of this, you may find yourself constantly butting up against the same frustrating thought patterns that continually throw you right back into the false belief that you can’t have the life that you want.

What is a “Holistic” Life Coach?

A “Holistic” Life Coach believes very much in the connection between the mind, the body and the spirit.  Because of this belief, I utilize various techniques targeted to accessing all three.  We may implement some elements of a yoga asana practice, breath work, meditation, embodiment pieces, self-inquiry, energy work, etc. in order to tap into your highest self on multiple levels.

What is Expected of You?

Working with a Life Coach is a partnership, and no partnership works unless both parties are clear on what’s expected of them.  This won’t be as easy as just imagining you are a millionaire.  You can’t just wait for somebody to suddenly deposit a check into your bank account.  Changing your reality goes much deeper than that.

It is about changing your entire way of thinking, while at the same time, taking ACTION STEPS towards your goals.

Other FAQ’s

*What makes coaching different from other forms of assistance?

Coaching is distinctly different from therapy in any of its many forms. Coaching focuses specifically on bringing your awareness to what is really going on in your current life.  We work together to unearth and clarify the vision of what you’d actually like to be experiencing. We then employ various tools and guidance to make this vision your new reality.

You will largely determine the modalities we employ.  They will depend on your personality and individual learning style.  We will also consider which life areas you are looking for the most growth. We will use tools that will bring forth your inner adventurer and creative visionary!  This may include using meditations, journaling, self-inquiry, embodiment, or critical thinking, to name a few. You can be told by others repeatedly what you need to do to change your life. However, until you come to those conclusions yourself, change will always be somewhere in the future.  A skilled coach can maneuver you through your old patterns of thinking and help you find that clarity for yourself.

How many sessions should I sign up for when starting?
There is really no specific answer to this question.  It will vary from person to person, however, my recommendation is to invest in 4 sessions at the bare minimum. You should also be ready to commit to meeting at least once per week in the beginning. This will help to keep up our momentum and build rapport with one another. This is your money, your future, and your well-being! If you are going to do it, let’s do it right!

Does coaching have to be done in person?
The short answer is no!  A good portion of my clients prefer to meet via Skype or on the phone.  They still experience all of the same benefits as my face-to-face clients!  In fact, oftentimes I find that clients are more willing to be open and honest via phone or Skype.  I believe it allows them to keep a bit of anonymity as they learn to trust me with their truths.  Coaching is more about the rapport that is built between client and coach.  If it’s a good fit it can be a positive experience no matter where it’s done!
